The UCT Open Science Framework (UCT OSF) is a free, online platform that supports your research workflow. It is a free hub for collaborating and managing your research data. It is built for academics and researchers who require something more robust than just a storage location or a chatty collaboration area. You can register your project, manage stakeholders, and centralise data that might be stored at different locations with different collaborators.
Within a project space on OSF you can:
access unlimited storage (for 50 years);
easily segment your project into different components;
connect with your already set up workspaces (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, ZivaHub) so that changes reflect on all systems;
add collaborators to different components and keep the project private by having tight access control;
create versions of the project (‘forking’ labs etc.);
add citation information;
register and publish (to obtain a DOI) components of your project to contribute to Open Science.
It is built to integrate with a variety of systems and to slot into the academic requirements of our digital workspaces.
How to get started:
Create an account by clicking on ‘Sign in’ on the OSF OSF home page , and then select ’ Login through Your Institution.’ Select University of Cape Town, and enter your SSO credentials after that.
